Cookies — Legenddrop
| Retention | Analytics cookies live for 13 months, session cookies disappear when the browser is closed, and preference cookies survive for one year unless the reader clears them manually. Analytics cookies are rotated every quarter and anonymised before storage; no cookie can be used to re-identify a specific reader after 400 days. Preference cookies are first-party and never leave our servers. |
| What cookies are | Cookies are small text files written by the browser. They let the site remember language choices, keep the newsletter banner from reappearing on every visit, and count visits for traffic reports. A cookie can store up to 4 KB of information, usually a session identifier or a boolean flag. We do not use local storage for anything beyond the dark-mode preference, and no Flash or evercookie technology is present on the site. |
| Which we use | Three families: strictly necessary cookies for site navigation; preference cookies for layout and language; and analytics cookies for aggregated reports (no personal identification). The full list is published at legenddrop.org/cookie-list and is updated whenever a new cookie is added. The list includes the name, purpose, retention period and whether consent is required for each entry. |
| Changes | If we add or remove a cookie we update this page and raise the banner again on the next visit so the reader can re-confirm consent. Material changes to the cookie policy — adding a tracking cookie, bringing in a new processor — trigger a banner notice. Minor edits (clarifications, typo fixes) are logged in the changelog without a banner. |
